Stopwatch
Precise stopwatch with laps, splits, and keyboard control.
Stopwatch
| Lap | Lap time | Split (total) |
|---|
No laps recorded yet.
How it works
- Elapsed time is measured against a monotonic clock and recomputed on every read; the display loop only repaints, so it can never accumulate error the way tick-counting stopwatches do.
- Pausing folds the running span into an accumulated total; resuming starts a fresh span from the same monotonic clock. Laps survive pause/resume; only Reset clears them.
- Each lap records two numbers: the lap time (since the previous lap) and the split (total elapsed at that moment), so both timing styles are readable from one table.
Good to know
- Display precision is hundredths of a second; the underlying measurement is the same monotonic clock the countdown uses.
- Keyboard: Space starts/pauses, L records a lap, R resets (ignored while typing or on a focused button).
- Background-tab throttling only delays repainting; returning to the tab resyncs the display to true elapsed time instantly.

Frequently asked questions
How precise is the stopwatch?
It displays hundredths of a second and measures against a monotonic clock, so displayed precision reflects real elapsed time rather than accumulated ticks.
What is the difference between lap and split?
A lap is the time since the previous lap; a split is the total elapsed time at that moment. Both are recorded, so you can read either running style from one table.
Do laps survive pausing?
Yes. Pause/resume preserves both the total elapsed time and every recorded lap; reset clears everything. Nothing is stored remotely.
